Purpose
The workshop aims to bring together researchers, developers and students working on Plan 9 (see Plan 9 from Bell Labs), or related systems, platforms, and projects, to discuss a wide range of system and application ideas and issues.

Call for Papers and Paper Submission (REVISED)
Plan 9 fans: we need more papers at the workshop, so the submission deadlines have been moved.

Papers of up to 15 pages must be sent to iwp9papers at ericjul.dk in PDF or PS format. The call for papers is here. Please do not forget to include the e-mail address of the contact author. Submissions will be acknowledged via e-mail (please allow for a small delay). Papers must be visually similar to Plan 9 papers that can be found at /sys/doc/9/ in order to compile a homogeneous proceedings book. See for example this paper. These macros and this mkfile can be used to duplicate this look. Please keep this look and feel, use the same fonts and do not include page numbers.

For accepted papers, besides the PDF/PS file, it would be nice, if authors could provide a LaTeX (or troff) source as to facilitate the compilation of the proceedings printable version. This is not mandatory. In the worst case, page numbers and a toc will be added by hand. You might, however, have to compensate for this at an Irish pub. The workshop proceedings will be published in electronic form. We are also considering the edition of a printed version with ISBN, to be distributed during the workshop.

	hit the river. Turn left and follow the river. At the THIRD bridge )(Capel Street)
	turn right, cross the river on the bridge. The road turns into Parliment Street,
	the Porterhouse is on the left, right after you have crossed the bridge. Arrive anytime
	between 18 and 19.

	between 6 and 9 Euros for a ride back from the Temple Bar area to the Maldron Hotel.
	Or just walk, it is about 1.5 - 2 km walk.

Logistics
The venue is 12 km outside the center of Dublin and transportation to the venue is a pain, except if you take a taxi. So we have arranged that there will be large, shared taxis to and from the hotel/venue every day. As we do not have neither a registration fee nor a rich sponsor, you will have to pay any taxi ride yourself. However, by sharing large taxis, the cost will likely be not much more than a bus ride per person. Oh, should anyone even consider renting a car, well, if you are in town just for the workshop and some city sightseeing, a car will merely be a pain. And remember, in Ireland you drive on the left. Should you rent a car, beware that there is a Stupid-American surcharge for cars with automatic transmission: given two car that are identical except one has automatic transmission while the other has manual, expect the automatic to be 2x - 2.5x the cost of the manual. The suspicion is that ONLY Americans who CANNOT drive a manual are the only ones EVER to rent a car with automatic in Ireland... Regardless, taxis are your best option, and they are not all that expensive by European standards, see below. And we will be providing shared taxis during the workshop.

An electronic copy of the proceedings will be made available shortly before the workshop.

The registration deadline is November 7th, 2012. To register, please send an e-mail to iwp9reg at ericjul.dk with your name, affiliation and e-mail address, one per line. Franck Franck, Ph.D. student at Bell Labs and Trinity College Dublin has volunteered to handle registration.

The workshop will take place in the Shannon room at Bell Labs Ireland. Bell Labs Ireland is located in Alcatel-Lucents building in the Blanchardstown Business and Technology Park approximately 12 km from the center of Dublin and approximately 15 km from the Dublin airport GPS coordinates are:

How to get from Dublin Airport to Bell Labs
From the Dublin airport (either Terminal 1 or 2 - they are next to each other), Bell Labs can be reached by bus or taxi. The bus is run by Urbus, costs about 5 Euros, runs every 1-2 hours, and takes about one hour including a 10-15 minute walks in Blanchardstown from the nearest bus stop to Bell Labs. A taxi from the airport takes 20-30 minutes and costs approximately 25 Euros. We may arrange a large shared taxi on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Send me your shared taxi requests giving flight info.

Accommodation
The Organizers expect you to take care of your own accommodations. We recommend the following hotel and have negotiated a rate of 65 Euros per night a single room including breakfast: The Maldron Hotel, Smithfield, Dublin 7. Twin rooms are available for 75 Euros including breakfast (which means 37.50 Euro, if sharing). They also have some suites available for a supplement of 30 Euro per night. These rates should be valid thru November 2nd, 2012. To reserve at this rate, send mail to res.smithfield@maldronhotels.com quoting "IWP9". The hotel is walking distance to the local restuarants and pubs. It is about 50 meter from one of Dublin's best traditional session music pubs, 1.2 km from the Temple Bar area, 150 meters from the Jameson Distillery, and about 1.3 km from the Guiness Storehouse Visitors Center.
